Now finally for the first time in a month a card I can write something about. Ok now let's talk about one of my personal favorites Don Zaloog. Now way back when in early last August late July when PGD was released there was nothing more than this and a few others people wanted mainly this though to help "yata lock" and just for all out control and Hand disruption. So since then this card has taken a down hill path. In August when I reviewed this card I gave it a 4.5/5. I thought it was the greatest thing going and playing less than 4 months at the time what else could I say.
But enough with my Don Zaloog history now on to the actual card itself:
Don Zaloog:
1400/1500- 4 stars- I think it is mainly more than anything else the stats that kill this. It is 4 stars and cannot ATK under Gravity Bind (not something good). This could really help shape a good Gravity Bind deck but... And then the low ATK kills it. I mean 1900's rule today's meta-game and leaving a 1400 in ATK mode could screw you. If the stats where good enough to stand up to 1900's this would rule..
Ok August review:
Dark/Warrior/4 stars/ATK 1400/DEF 1500 When this card inflicts Battle Damage to your opponent's Life Points, you can select and activate 1 of the following effects: -Select 1 card from your opponent's hand randomly and discard it to the Graveyard. -Send 2 cards from the top of your opponent's Deck to the Graveyard.
Don Zaloog was probably the most anticipated and overrated card in the entire set of Pharaonic Guardian. Trust me, it is very good, but it doesn't compare to the hype.
Irregardless of what it can do, it's still just a 1400 ATK Monster. It's definitely not a card that should be abused in multiples of three. Unless you're running a straight Warrior Beatdown deck, I wouldn't run anymore than two Don Zaloog. Luckily, Warrior Decks have Marauding Captain to potentially be his savior.
Although, Don Zaloog has some pretty devastating Effects. Not only can he discard a card at random, but he can also Mill your opponent's deck. There's no doubt that you should only use the Milling Effect if there's no cards in your opponent's hand. But really take it from my experience
Now I would say it is really not that good and really overrated and good to play in control or disruption. Now I would have to give it a
1400 just cannot stand up to the small or big guys I mean D.D Warrior Lady can take it out.......
